How do I recover my FSA ID or password?

If you have an FSA ID set up but you forget it or your password, you can easily retrieve this information.

The Federal Student Aid program has a couple of great videos on YouTube that walks you through the retrieval process.

What to Do if I Forgot My FSA ID Username

  1. Go to https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm.
  2. Click on the tab that says "Manage My FSA ID" and then select the link that says "Forgot My Username." 
  3. Choose how you would like to retrieve your username: via text, via email, or by responding to challenge questions. Then click "Continue."
  4. If you choose the text or email option, enter your verified mobile phone number or email address and your birthday. Then click "Continue."
  5. If you chose to retrieve your username by answering your challenge questions, fill in all fields and then click "Submit."

What to Do if I Forgot My FSA ID Password

  1. Go to https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm.
  2. Click on the tab that says "Manage My FSA ID" and then select the link that says "Forgot My Password."
  3. Select a piece of verified data: either via your verified mobile number or email address. Then click "Continue."
  4. Choose an option to reset your password. Be aware that if you decide to use the challenge questions, there will be a 30-minute delay before you can use your FSA ID. Click "Continue."
  5. If you choose text message or email, enter the secure code that is sent to your device and click "Submit."
  6. Set your new password and press "Continue."
