How can I tell if I already have an FSA ID?

Your FSA ID is used to sign legally binding documents electronically with the Department of Education (Ed), including student loan promissory notes. It replaced the Federal Student Aid PIN on May 10, 2015. If you haven't logged into a Federal Student Aid website since that time, you probably don't have an FSA ID.

If you'd like to check to see if you have an FSA ID, go to https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm and click on "Manage My FSA ID."

  1. Enter your FSA ID username and password.
  2. If you verified your email address during account creation, you can also enter your email address instead of your username.
  3. If you're unsure what your FSA ID or verified email address may be, select the "Forgot My Username" link.
